Title: Intel Kaby Lake G reportedly loses AMD driver support all of a sudden
Post by: Redaktion on June 09, 2020, 23:21:09
The Kaby Lake G platform is unique in that it combines an 8th-gen Intel Core CPU with Radeon Vega M graphics. Attractive a proposition as this - and some of the PCs on which it is based - sounds, it quickly ran into support issues. Now, it seems it has a new one: it can't install newer drivers, which are normally supplied by AMD.

To be honest, I've never been a fan of AMD bundling CPU and GPU drivers. For example, I have an old AMD gpu that I use sometimes and a Zen CPU. I have to use old CPU drivers because if I use new ones the GPU will not work.

As for Kabylake G, I was interested in it at first but few laptops had it. So I waited and looking at the mess of Intel giving up on it despite, I'm glad I waited.
