Title: Huge AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and Ryzen 5 5600X sales combine with Matisse in Mindfactory report to leave Intel's Rocket Lake with a Sisyphean task
Post by: Redaktion on January 11, 2021, 13:29:47
Latest sales data from Mindfactory has been compiled into a handful of charts and graphs that make for great reading for AMD, with both Matisse and Vermeer parts selling by the truckload. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X and Ryzen 5 5600X join the Ryzen 7 3700X in being particularly popular, leaving Intel's Rocket Lake with a Sisyphean task in regard to attracting buyers.

Wha? 5000 series have been nothing but: scarse; premium; expensive ($$$ on top of MSRP). Intel's availability's good as ever.
Do they even sell 'em outside the US?..

Germany, Dresden, AMD. Enough said. AMD is and was big in Germany.
Show me data from US.

Kinda funny seeing the comments here.

"Big Buba" - if the 5000 series AMD chips aren't available outside the US, where did these sales figures come from? 🤔

"dasdaddasda" - You know Intel has fabs in the USA, right? That means any sales results from American retailers are biased! /s

AMD haven't had anything to do with Dresden since 2009, guys. Feel free to cry as hard as you want, the DIY market likes AMD.

Apparently mindfactory is reporting 10k units of ryzen 5000 combined. I wonder how many seconds those 10k units lasted.

AMD sold out just as fast in the US as it did elsewhere. What's interesting is that not only did AMD take market share from Intel, the new technology shift they represented, NVidia and Covid drove a PC refresh cycle for many DIY builds leading to increased overall sales in PC parts. With supply shortages the true demand was never met so there will be trailing demand uplift for some time. Looks like Apple will capture a chunk of laptop share next with their 5nm and then 3nm CPU performance, which Intel has no response to.
