Title: Activision cancelled its WoW: Shadowlands stream to “make space for other voices.” Where was that space when Blitzchung and Hong Kong needed it?
Post by: Redaktion on June 08, 2020, 16:25:49
Activision Blizzard recently announced that it would be delaying its World of Warcraft: Shadowlands livestream to make way for "more important voices." However, the decision appears insincere, especially in light of Blizzard's treatment of Hearthstone Grandmaster Blitzchung for speaking out about the Hong Kong protests.

Because games and sport is not a place for political voices. If I want political news - I can watch TV.

First, Activision / Blizzard is an American company and our people matters, FIRST, more than other countries politics do just like Asian companies like vivo, Xiaomi showed when they boycotted against our American organization and its players the NBA. (Where were your questions when that was going on?!)

Second, Americans are tired of our great troops fighting for countries that will eventually hate on us and disrespect our troops and their most ultimate sacrifice defending/liberating them just for them to stab us in the back and want us out their country FAST when we've finished the job that they were too inferior to accomplish themselves.

You know, hypocrites!

The Blitzchung incident was the wrong thing to do, no doubt about that. This time they make the right decision and get blamed for that also? Did they have any option that you would not hold against them?

They are though, look at Tommie Smith in the  1960's, way before people started "politicizing" sports and games. I don't get why it is wrong to speak up about issues your people have suffered in an event viewed by thousands, if anything it is the perfect scenario for issues like this to be speaked about. And this in particular isn't political, this is more of a human rights issue. China has done and is doing terrible things to taiwanese, nepalese, tibetan, the Uyghurs, hong kongers etc.

They are criticizing Activision because what they are doing is totally hypocritical and they are just guided by money, which is what companies do, but don't try to pass it as if you were in favor of human rights when you have the CCP up your arse.

Crazy how blizzard is all about being involved here when it doesn't involve their Chinese overlords paying them less.

Hating on those who bomb their country, kill their people and steal their oil and natural resources in the name of freedom.
Yeah, hypocrites!

That's no fight for freedom but just destroying the economy.  Please use
real human eyes to see what they have done to HK last year but not through your monitor

Stop crying infringing people's right or freedowm of speech. Come to HK and see how people is free to complain everything  in HK still.Even those who set fire to stores or hit people badly they are still [FREE] from being caught.

If still no guts to admit what they have really done, so please stop political stuffs here.

Things to check before writing an attack article. Is the company that caused the outrage over Blitz the same as the one making the announcement now.

The answer btw is no, blizz Asia is not blizz rest of the world.  Blizz rotw actually reversed as much as they could in the blitz case but they couldn't force blizz Asia to reinstate him.

Of course Blizzard is hypocritical, leftists is all for show, they are baizuo. 18 death in Chicago in just 1 day did anyone saw any protest?
Of course not, the left does this for power.

"Hating on those who bomb their country, kill their people and steal their oil and natural resources in the name of freedom.
Yeah, hypocrites!"

You know that more than 100000 French were killed by Allied forces liberating their country. Maybe instead of spouting your ignorance, try to check who owns the oil...

You just gotta love the ignorance about some damn oil nonsense.

America 10,000% energy efficient, complete extreme superpower militarily, economically, education, science, technology and sooOOoo much more.

Fact, American troops lost of lifes are in the thousands fighting beside countries that HATE US AFTER THE JOB IS DONE!

Fact - America has spent over 20 TRILLION DOLLARS FIGHTING WARS AND HELPING THOSE WHO CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES and those countries NEVER OFFERED TO REPAY AMERICANS NOT ONE DIME! SO, WHAT DAMN OIL, JEWELS, LAND, MONEY?!?!

The BS is thick in here from BBC RT, Sputnik, Aljazeera, etc.

While I would say that most companies are "flexible" when it comes to politics, this is quite blatant hypocrisy. If instead most people could see it as it really is, then we could say that there's remarkable consistency in their actions, that the former case was self-censorship in order to avoid political retaliation as it's happened so many times in China, and that the latter case is a publicity stunt for a positive image, both cases catering to the political correctness of the two most prominent political powers of this world.
As a side note, I see this argument circulating around the web seemingly undisputed by the left:
https://peckford42.wordpress.com/2020/06/02/the-myth-of-systemic-police-racism/
In China, if something is censored outright instead of publically rebutted, then it's highly likely to be true(though a public rebuttal does not completely rule out its legitimacy); in the west, if something is treated like air by most mainstream media instead of publically rebutted, it also seems to have a higher possibility of being true. And the data it cites looks pretty convincing too.

I agree with Dan6, if I want the latest political news, and the crappy lying that goes with it, I'll turn on the tv! Games are for gaming!! It's where I go to get AWAY from the "news"!!!

I've seen this exact "article" posted on 3 or 4 different sites now.

Blizz was wrong about Blitzchung and Hong Kong. They knew it. They said at BlizzCon that they needed to do better.

Here they are, doing better.

Yeah this is pretty s*** criticism. You want them to do better, they take it on board, they do better next time and then it's like "now you do it, unfair!!".. like without a time machine that's literally all they can do. :/

The point the article is trying to make is that Blizzard is still full of crap. They don't actually care about the protests, they are just using it as an opportunity to get good will back from the community.

I'll believe Blizzard cares about anything other than money when they put themselves at risk for the sake of a cause. If they dont actually care, then they should just keep their their mouths shut to avoid looking like hypocrits.

Mental gymnastics is strong with this.

How do you compare someone breaching their contract versus delaying an event in respect of racial events?

One is a commercial matter and one is a hate crime.

Like it ain't even close.
