Chinese companies do a lot of this vaporware stuff. Obviously, all the major companies like Samsung, Apple, Sony would be testing this tech but the likes of —Xiaomi (this fiasco), ZTE ( Axon with half-baked under-display camera), Meizu ( that copied the iPhone 7 antenna band design but leaked pictures earlier to show as if they invented it)— do this to gain a reputation of 'innovators'

Remote charging, like wireless charging, are a very bad idea: it's very wasteful (spend 10Wh, charge 6Wh maximum) compared to good ol' wire charging. So do we want to save Joe Polar Bear or what ?

Xiaomi has (perhaps prematurely) announced Mi Air Charge technology which delivers 5 W remote wireless charging to devices within several meters of its base station. Although the announcement is exciting, it is currently only vaporware, with no devices shipping from the company in 2021 and no details about when it will hit the market.
