Title: Honor MagicBook Pro in review - 16-inch multimedia laptop with a lot of power
Post by: Redaktion on November 05, 2020, 05:32:40
With the MagicBook Pro, Honor offers a well-equipped multimedia laptop with the latest Ryzen processor and a large 16.1-inch display. In our test, the device is almost completely convincing, and in many areas, it can also keep up with significantly more expensive competitors.

Great review, thanks.
Do you know if it is possible to add a second drive?
A the bottom right of the inside photo inside it seems there is enough space to add a 2.5" drive.
In similar models, the port to attach the drive is under the battery (you have to buy a specific cable though).

I have the 4800H version and it is a great laptop. The 16.1 is unique and with this size/weight combo, it's absolutely worth every cent.

I have this laptop and it is possible to use the USB-c simultaneously for charging, 1080p VGA out, and USB-A (for me to my mouse)

I do this all day every day with a cheap Chinese adaptor from amazon

Machine great so far, agree with review

This is a superb bit of kit for the cash. I bought this to replace my 5Y old Dell Inspiron, which started struggling with the additional workloads since working from home more.

The negatives first. The camera is just plain silly, the position renders it useless for most situations, the lack of a full keyboard with a number pad, another oversight, especially considering the amount of space available on the deck, the keyboard just feels small and cramped to me and the lack of Win10 Pro as standard or at least the option to have it would have been nice.

None of these negatives are deal breakers for most folks I would have thought and can be worked around quite easily.

Other than that, it's a fantastic choice, it looks smart, it feels well built, well finished, it is surprisingly light too, it has a decent amount of memory and a pretty quick drive.

The star of the show though, it comes with a monster of a chip for a laptop, it is fast, very efficient and hugely capable, productivity-wise, I have desktops that are less capable than this little beauty.

I have the laptop hooked into a dock via the USB-C port, with keyboard/mouse, webcam, dual screens, portable drives, and a wired network connection, nullifying any potential negatives I mentioned above.

I have a ton of stuff going on, such as I'm on calls all day, which I make through my laptop, using Cisco/Jabber/Teams/Skype/Zoom/Meet, with various office apps open and multiple docs, other apps such as Acrobat, CRM, service desk software and a few other applications. I generally hit 10-12 GB usage on average, and I'm on the desk 8-10 hours a day and it never flinches, it never feels like it is struggling.

Overall, this laptop should absolutely be on your shortlist as for the money, right now, it is unbeatable, seriously.

Hello,
What kind of test did you run with Prim95 ?
On my side, when laptop is plugged in and in performance mode, CPU reach 100 degree celius when running Smallest FFTs (12 threads).

I am wondering how yours can only reach 87.3 degree celsius.

There is space for a 2.5" drive but I can see no sign of a motherboard header to connect to it (and I looked closely).
