Title: Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series laptop shortages likely as Ethereum hunters in China turn to mobile mining
Post by: Redaktion on February 06, 2021, 11:03:25
A financial blogger on Chinese social media has posted various images of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series laptops being used for cryptocurrency mining. The rigs on show involve dozens of gaming notebooks stacked up just for hunting down some increasingly valuable Ethereum. Some of the laptops visible are RTX 3060 machines that cost around US$1,000.

Just checked ETH mining profitability, even my 3 year old laptop with gtx 1060 is profitable, making about 70 pence per day. This is really getting out of hand.

game developers should move to ARM.
unless something terrible will happen to cryptocurrency, like some legislations against electricity overload, it will continue to consume most advanced GPUs. meanwhile, we got problems with consoles (Nintendo excluding) availability as well. and to top it off, imho there is no game worth playing which can justify having something like rtx 3070. the future of computer games as we knew it doesn't look good.
