Title: Did Google drop a Pixel Easter Egg in its Macauley Culkin ad?
Post by: Redaktion on December 27, 2018, 10:40:49
The new Google ad featuring Macauley Culkin reprising his role as Kevin McCallister has been a smash hit racking up over 31 million views on YouTube since it was published on December 19. However, it appears that there might be two versions of the clip circulating; one with the standard Pixel 3 XL as we know it with a notch, and one with what could be an Easter Egg showing a variation of the same device, but with the notch hidden (or absent altogether) but with an edge-to-edge screen.

I think what I find most interesting, is that you did an entire article on an "unreleased" pixel 3 xl, when it was only the well-known software feature that allows you to get rid of the notch, if you so please.

This isn't a new version. It's the same version...with the software function active.

Try to do your research before you waste time writing an entire article about it.

And, to top it off, there IS notch in the Pixel that's on the ad.

The first video used the pixel 3 (notice the top bezel.  The second used the 3XL and there is clearly a notch.  What a waist of time this article was. Thumbs down to you.

As others point out, this is such a waste of time. Look at 0:16 in the two linked videos. The second one shows a Pixel 3XL with the notch. The former is clearly, like very clearly, just bad editing. Look at the lack of side bezels. Not thin side bezels, total lack thereof. How anyone can look at this video and even for a second think that this is a real device is baffling. So let's say Google did perfect the "no side bezels" look.. why would they then slab the biggest forehead on the device since iPhone 8? Use your brain. I mean, holy flying spaghetti monster, i can't believe someone paid someone to write this article.. I mean, damn...

They have already edited the video and re-uploaded without any new video or update. It's the Pixel 3 XL, but it also has an orange power button 🤔

You can already hide the notch which is what the first video is showing.

People that do not have a pixel xl3 need not comment. YOU CAN hide the notch in the developer settings and it looks exactly like the first video with the large top bezel
