Title: HP announces the ZBook Studio X360 G5 with workstation internals in a consumer-style body
Post by: Redaktion on April 06, 2018, 00:50:12
The newly announced HP ZBook Studio x360 G5 is a creator and designer focused convertible that packs workstation class Intel Xeon and Nvidia Quadro hardware into a flexible device. It features a screen that meets 100% of the AdobeRGB color standard and a pen with 4000 levels of sensitivity.

 8) 8) 8) I am SO glad to see HP use an *anti-glare* pen-enabled 15.6" 4k screen!  8) 8) 8)
And a Xeon CPU, with *socketed* *ECC* RAM.  8)
And all in a 360-degree convertible design that is IMO the most practical of the current form factors.

They really knocked the specs of this thing out of the park. Very much looking forward to reviews. If build quality, cooling, and maintenance/upgrade ability check out, this may be my next computer.  :)

Other things I'm very happy to see:
+ pen supports tilt
+ 3-button touchpad (Linux user)
+ full-size SD slot
+ Thunderbolt 3
+ WWAN availability

Nitpicks:
- Would prefer a 16:10 or taller screen rather than the default 16:9. Those large top and bottom bezels show there's room.
- Would like full-sized up and down arrow keys in inverted tee rather than those stupid half-sized keys.
- Would like separate, discrete touchpad buttons rather than integrated ones.
- Would like a touch stick and 2nd set of physical mouse buttons. (Yeah, I'm coming from ThinkPad.)
- Would like an integrated ethernet port, rather than having to use a dongle.
- Would like (4) rather than just (2) SODIMM sockets. (Maybe a stretch to fit them in a notebook this size...?)

Finally, I'd love to see the notebook in person. It would be great if HP could make these available at retail stores like Best Buy, Microcenter, M$ Store. And maybe even office stores (i.e. Staples). Would really blow away the typical consumer junk available at those places.

With this 16:9 screen unusable for anybody, but little girls.
