The kind of connectivity normally exclusive to dedicated satellite phones are thought to become the next big thing for the consumer-grade smartphones of the future. Apple just might get there first as of tomorrow (September 7, 2022); however, a Google executive indicates that Android will not be far behind, with satellite use just a major software upgrade away.
