Title: iMac Pro: Apple's 27-inch, 120 Hz and M1 Max-powered desktop may launch in June with over 4,000 mini-LEDs

There have been plenty of conflicting reports about the iMac Pro, a more powerful alternative to the 24-inch iMac. Purportedly, the iMac Pro may not arrive until the summer, potentially during WWDC 2022. It could feature more than 4,000 mini-LEDs though, along with 1,000 dimming zones.

Is it odd that I'm never quite impressed by touts of 'X thousand local dimming zones' when the actual LED count is higher? What's stopping manufacturers from simply addressing all the LEDs individually? The LED matrix is already a significantly lower resolution than the panel itself, so I would think the least they could do is use it to its full granularity. Perhaps there's some technical hurdle I don't fully grasp. Either way it's an improvement over single-backlight displays.
