Title: Red flags to watch out for when buying laptops on sale or looking for deals
Post by: Redaktion on August 05, 2022, 23:14:01
Cheap displays, low RAM and storage, and older generation CPUs or GPUs are common tricks that manufacturers like to use. Uninformed buyers may think they're getting a good deal, but the sly cut corners can sometimes be steep.

Allen, take a break from writing, man. This is rubbish. Practically nonsensical.

Re: other comments -- it may not present anything new, but I do find it useful to have a contained article that can be linked to others that summarizes and addresses these issues. Given that this article is positioned well enough to serve that purpose, I'm all for it.

If we're to criticize writing, though, the related article "Old laptop features that we hope will never come back" (https://www.notebookcheck.net/Old-laptop-features-that-we-hope-will-never-come-back.635258.0.html) is more in need of work than this one. Its continued use of the term "RGBW" in place of the more-adequately-descriptive "RG/BW" falls short of ongoing commitment to display information accuracy. I commend the removal of the incorrect 2880-width calculation previously present, but promoting productive terminology is important too.
