you forgot to mention it's still $1400, which is far too much considering Nvidia is cheaping out on mobile 40 series and using 4060 desktop silicon as the basis for the 4070.  across the board, the 40 series mobile gpus ate a tier lower than their desktop counterparts, Nvidia's doing this just because they can, since amd's mobile rx 6800m and 7700s has seen almost no adoption by oems

All "gaming" laptops with 4060-4080 are not capable of delivering 60fps in 2.5k resolution in most of the 2023 releases and especially the new 2024 ones.

In fact, for modern games in native 2.5k resolution, only 4090 is suitable, but looking at its fps at 2.5k, it is clear that it will stop reaching 60fps in the releases of new games in 2024, around the end of summer...

At the same time, the desktop 4080 will last about another year, maybe 1.5. And a desktop with it is much cheaper than a laptop with a mobile 4080, which is 1.5 times weaker.

Mobile 4060-4080 are only suitable for games in fhd or with a dlss crutch, in 2.5k (which is still lower quality than native rendering in 2.5k), in order to pull out 60fps as a playable minimum.

NVidia, with the help of the DLSS crutch, hides from the naive, technically illiterate masses of the population the simplest fact - its mobile chips, even with a monstrous 140W (many years ago, "gaming" laptops consumed less!) consumption in laptops are not capable of delivering 60fps even at 2.5k, not to mention 4k (almost an analogue picture, as in the real world for laptop screens, similar to smartphones with their high density of dots per inch) - even the mobile 4090, with releases in 2023, is on its knees here. With reference graphics quality, as intended in the studios.

And progress in IT is rapidly slowing along with slowing improvements in technical processes. They are quickly approaching the physical limits of transistor shrinkage.

What will they do next when the performance growth curve per 1W of consumption becomes almost flat?

Mass quantum processors are still, at best, decades away...

The truth is cruel.

As we can see, Intel was forced to sacrifice performance in MeteorLake in order to reduce consumption by 1.5 times. As a result, the performance of the new series, for the first time at "7nm" for Intel, is 1.5 times less than that of Raptor Lake with a power cheat. And both are still weaker than AMD Zen4, losing significantly in performance by 1W, and with Ultra MeteorLake cores and in multiprocessor by 1.5 times...
