An extra helping. Acer's Aspire E1-531 promises a big 15.6 inch screen for little money. With an Intel Pentium processor and 6 GB of working memory, the elegant giant wants to prove that it can be more than just a workplace or a portable home cinema. It might just be a real bargain considering a purchase price of merely EUR 300.

I have an E1-531 but is slower than this presented on top.
It has Celeron processor with 1.8 GHz, 4GB RAM, and the video card only has
128 MB memory.
jaffa laptop, don't go thru this one ...it is dammn slow...fucking hardware not supporting operatings systems...
how do you switch on bluetooth? mine has windows 8
i have the same laptop but won't connect to the wireless help me out pls.
I CAN'T FINED THE CAPS LOCK AND NUM LOCK INDICATOR. ARE THERE LED INDICATORS? IF SO, WHERE CAN I ACTIVATE THEM?
Is there a DVD/CD drive in it?
I have an E1-531 g with geForce 710M, and it's work briliant. I'm using it for 3D graphics, programming and gaming and music production and it's fantastic. A lot of new games work perfect on mid/high details, system runs very fast, i haven't any problems with wi-fi, bluetooth.
But case looks like crap. Cheap, soft, glossy plastic everywere. I'm afraid when I must take it to rucksack. 2 days later after unpacking it, i had a lot of scratches. And that glossy screen...
Battery perfomance is not perfect, but not bad. While surfing the internet, battery is out after aproximatelly 3 hours, on gaming 1 hour.
Overlay: Budget laptop with very good perfomance. If it'll be stolen, I will buy it again.
???is it possible to switch the os to windows 8 ? when i am tying to do it , it is showing an error . I have tried like 5 to 6 times but it is not helping any more . please help me with this ......
I bought an E1-531 on January 5 2013 for home use and on April 12 2013 it just went bye-bye, darkness nothing works. How`s that for long lasting performance? Will I purchase an Acer again mmmmmm... maybe not
The absolute worst PC purchase I have made. Since day one the ACER shut off with no warning. No luck talking to manufacturer. It's just a paperweight now.
This laptop is quite good for normal office use. The Celeron 1.8GHz version is not necessarily slower, because it features a newer Ivy Bridge architecture. I have that one myself. The new one also features a usb 3.0 slot.
Moreover, this is the laptop I have got for under 300€. You cannot expect miracles from it.
windows 8 is not starting in this lapy.. pls suggest a way
i have Acer E1-531 but the bluetooth cannot detect any device. please help.
my rate destop grapic performance only 2.2 :(
how to fix this ?
Hey did anyone tried installing a linu distro on this?
Pat it was fast when i first got it and slowed down a bit takes a while to find things on the web but not bad I like it
:-\ :-\There is no caps indicator, mine also has an intermittent battery problem. Any suggestions?
Battery is a bummer, no caps lock, Bit of a pain, they say take the battery out and start with mains power - how convenient!. >:D :p :-[ :-X :-X :-\
Great article. I've had mine for nearly a year, no issue's. Great everyday laptop. I need to upgrade RAM as my circumstances have changed and need to load a hungry music software. Can the RAM be replaced and upgraded? Thanks.
it is a great laptop i have ever made. it is working fine and faster with windows 8 thanks for acer but the problem i am facing with caps indicator and num lock indicator can u tell me where can i find those thank u
The laptop is a bit more than 2 year old. Had to replace the original hard drive and 2 week later, it killed the Western digital black......Have to rma it. If it fails for no reason. I'll never buy acer again since they build junk! Never had any problems like that with Asus laptops.
I think its a really nice laptop. I have one myself but my ram is only 2gb which makes it hard for me to play games. I was going to buy more memory but I don't know how many memory slots there are
Hi, Nice review.
However, should you need a translator who can put German, French or Italian into real, comprehensible English, I would be more than happy to do it for you. No charge

Have this laptop but with only 4GB DDR3 Memory. Its functions are fantastic for school and I'm quite happy with it. Only downside is that it is heavy so sometimes difficult to haul around in a bag.
I bought a Acer Aspire E1-531 Notebook a year ago in 1916. This version here is only a duo core. Mine has a quad core. Why the change?
I've had mine for 7.5 years now - still in daily use. I replaced the fan recently, as well as the DC port, (not expensive - found on Ebay) and I added 4Gb RAM for a total of 8Gb. It came with Windows 8, but I switched it up to Windows 10 when that came out. Be careful removing the back, the screws under the hinges should not be removed, and don't need to be to access the inside.
It's mostly used for a backup now, but I still boot it up every day, I suggest changing thew desktop photo every year or so to make it feel new... :-)
i have this computer with moderate uses after ten year of uses still working fine.
i have upgrade ram 8gb and ssd and change battery on such years.
no extra cost and work like very smooth on ubuntu os.
