Title: Orange Pi OS arrives to offer Android, Linux and Windows application support for SBCs
Post by: Redaktion on November 29, 2022, 20:08:02
Shenzhen Xunlong Software, the company behind Orange Pi, has introduced a desktop OS of the same name. Mistakable for Windows 11, Orange Pi OS can also be customised to resemble macOS but supports Android, Linux and Windows applications. Orange Pi OS is already available to try on the Orange Pi 800, the company's answer to the Raspberry Pi 400.

Please get your facts straight.  Mighty Microsoft Corp. of the USA finally copied Deepin Linux desktop environment for Windows 11.

Might Microsoft/USA was finally forced to take the copycat position when they accused China all theses years of Copying the US!

If anything Orange Pi is more a copy of Deepin than Win 11!

There is nothing here that indicates there is actual Windows and Linux application support. A skin for Android is not application support.

According to the wiki it will run windows applications but doesn't specify how. I assume emulation which will significantly reduce performance and compatibility. I hope it works great but I have my doubts.

Yeah I was just about to bring that up. Most of the desktop work is ripped right from the Debian and Ubuntu UI.
Windows 11 looks a lot like Unity with a light color scheme.

Windows 11 may seem like MacOS because of similarities between BSD and Linux. But fundamentally windows 11/12 looks and feels a lot more like Linux than MacOS.
