The new GIN X e-bike is currently on offer in the UK and EU for £999 (~US$1,177). The cheaper electric bicycle has a Tesla-grade battery, made of 21700 cells, providing up to 75 miles (~121 km) of range. The GIN X has a top speed of 32 mph (~51 kph) and a robust suspension system to help you off-road.https://www.notebookcheck.net/GIN-X-cheaper-electric-bike-with-Tesla-grade-battery-and-75-mile-range-discounted.642117.0.html

Trying to get back into riding after 40 years, just not as young, and like having a backup when I get tired.

That's an ignorant opinion.
Electric bikes are great for many commuter situations.
If people want to travel 15 miles quickly and not arrive sweaty, a manual bike will not suffice.
Authentic Tesla 21700 5000mAH cells are only 2.50usd each. Rock solid 10 amp discharge cells. I'm glad we're finally seeing the move away from 18650s.
Trolls are lazy. All bikes are good.
