Title: Asus FX553VD (7700HQ, GTX 1050) Laptop Review
Post by: Redaktion on April 22, 2017, 20:20:30
Searching for the Exceptional. We are taking the Asus FX553VD into our test regimen and evaluate if the FX553 lives up to Asus' motto "in search of incredible," or whether Asus has to continue to search. Compared to its sibling model which is equipped with a GTX 1060 at almost the same price, can the notebook collect enough pro-arguments for a purchase?

Quick question, do you know if the CPU is hard-wired to the mobo or I can swap it. I have the i5 variant with 32 gigs of ram and an SSD, having the i7 would help.

it's soldered to the mobo. HQ,HK,U variants of intel laptop processor are soldered to the mobo, so you can't swap it. swapable mobile CPU are the one with socketed variants is the old ones with M derivations (MQ,M). However there are also some laptops with PC desktop chips like 7700K that is swapable as long as the socket is the same variant. These laptops are commonly found on clevo barebones.

I want to add SSD on the M.2 slot (128gb or 256gb either). Which one will be better for this laptop? Suggest a brand. Thanks

Hi Jesther. I have the same version fx model but with 4gb 1050ti and 970 evo ssd. I am experiencing thermal issues and since you've asked about thermal pads, I reckon so do you.

I think we can compare the thermal values. On idle with ~10% cpu usage, my cpu and gpu hovers around 65-70 degrees celcius which is suspiciously high. What about you?

Thanks.

I have this same laptop & wanted to get an IPS PANEL. Which one would be easily compatible with this laptop. I can't find anything related to screen replacement for this.

LG LP156WF6-SPBx(1..5 - last with 3H hard coating). Search at Ali or eBay. Always flicker free.
