The French-language version of Acer's website now has a page for a new notebook: the Aspire 5 A514-54-50DU. Cosmetically, it seems much the same as the A514-52 we reviewed a couple of months ago. However, this one apparently has an Intel Core i5-1135G7 CPU rather than the Comet Lake silicon of the pre-existing model.

CPU upgrade? Good. However, they should have removed the totally useless numpad they tried to wedge into this laptop. If you can't do a full size numpad, with full size numbers, a double wide zero key, double height Enter and Plus keys, don't bother. If someone regularly uses a numpad for work, they will want a standard numpad to work with. If they don't need it, and you are just trying to add it as some sort of 'checkbox' item, then don't do it. You screw up the layout of the rest of the keyboard and the placement of the trackpad. I can't imagine anyone is happy with this shrunken numpad, and thus, expect it will continue to have poor sales. Don't screw it up like this next time Acer.
I have the 10210 version of this and I love it great design and great speed. You lucky people who get the upgrade jealous 😉
