Post by: Redaktion on April 02, 2021, 02:06:25
With the ThinkPad X1 Fold, Lenovo presents the first laptop with a foldable OLED panel. However, it has to deal with many limitations in everyday use. We want to find out whether the X1 Fold justifies the high price or whether you should rather avoid the technology experiment.

8w is pathetic, even ipad sustains more than that underload. Intel could have gave this processor 2+2 config instead, by increasing the power by 1-2 more watts... Would have made the performance miles better.

Just like Samsung's Z Fold and Motorola's RAZR series, I'd rather wait for the next-gen improvement.

In case if you are not aware, it was Samsung who actually started the ball rolling.

Yeah, I already knew, but Samsung also created amazing OLED displays with 400 nit brightness. This display, even though it is an OLED, it's 240 nits, which is nothing compared to the best or even normal OLED displays Samsung has to offer. This is not a critique of the panel manufacturing, rather for Lenovo choosing such a low end display and then marketing it as "amazing" when it's so dim you can't really use it properly even indoors.

I'm still waiting for Samsung to stop using PWM in their so called "premium screens".
