The combination of Snapdragon 865 and a 5G external modem was always going to hurt battery life, even with a 5,000 mAh battery. Perhaps unsurprisingly then, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra falls short of its peers like the Apple iPhone 11 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus and even the Galaxy S10 Plus. Now, Tom's Guide has demonstrated just how poorly the S20 Ultra fares, especially with its display running at 120 Hz.

What this really says is that it's quite misleading to pit devices running on 5G to 4G, it's no fairer than pitting devices running on 4G against Wifi.
That said, running on 4G is still using that external modem, whether Qualcomm undermined all its customers by going external this generation remains to be seen.

"disappointing battery runtimes" when it runs as long as the IPhone 11 pro max?? Are you fucking joking?

Is the high refresh rate really needed? No. Can you live without it? Absolutely yes. Can it be disabled? Thankfully yes. Other phones should also allow reverting to 60 Hz if the user wants it.

And other phones do, in fact AFAIK no phone with >90Hz refresh rate uses that fixed setting as the default, it's either something dynamic or 60Hz as default.
