Title: Huawei says the Kirin 980 SoC is faster than Apple's A12 Bionic
Post by: Redaktion on September 24, 2018, 21:40:12
Huawei might have lost the race for the first 7 nm smartphone SoC to Apple, but the Chinese company claims that its upcoming Kirin 980 that should be launched in mid-October is faster than the A12 Bionic from Apple. According to Huawei, the new Kirin 980 will be 75% faster and 57% more energy efficient than the 970 model, while the A.I. capabilities have been expanded.

Notably absent is where the company says faster in what. Certainly not single threaded CPU performance, as it'll no doubt still be behind by about half there. And I don't really believe it'll leapfrog A12 on GPU performance either given the cheating they were found doing, after which the performance was far from peachy.
