True, it's expensive, but that means its probably not for you to buy at launch. Wait a few months and get it with discounts instead. Or go buy what you consider is better for you & your budget

launch is another issue with Sony.. Flagships are being officially annaunced in first quarter of the year and devices finally ship in autumn..
thats the perfect way to kill every hype. The telephoto lens of the Xperia III´s, that can change its focal length, was all over youtube.. a few months ago. Now, nobody cares anymore because people already lost their patience.
If Sony wants to up their game they need to change their marketing and release strategies.
Its a shame really, because their phones are actually really good and a true alternative to all the Chiness phones that are literally just rip-offs of the current Samsung-Galaxy lineup (Xiaomi, Oneplus, Vivo, Oppo, ZTE, Realme,etc.. bet i forgot a couple..)

Someone needs to wake up Sony from it dream from the 1980s and early 90s that they are still stuck in that they still matter over today's much better brands with a fraction of Sony's exaggerated price hike today.

Someone needs to wake people up that Chinese companies (and everyone who does stuff in China) costs less because of slave labor and other out of law practices. Yes, I'm including Apple on that bag, too. They, aside of using slaves, charge like 4 times the manufacturing cost.

Sony manufactures Xperia in Thailand, where there are proper job laws and all. They also design everything from zero, so that's why you are never going to see a knock off Xperia design from any Chinese OEM.

Sony has finally revealed the asking price for the Xperia 1 III in the US. The 5G-capable smartphone with triple lens camera, water-resistance certification, 4K 120 Hz OLED, and even a 3.5 mm audio jack, will set buyers back by US$1,299.99. Plenty considering a purchase have been speculating on what freebies could come with the Sony Xperia 1 III.
