Title: Sony patents tech similar to Nvidia's DLSS, could include it in PS5 consoles to achieve higher FPS counts in 4K games
Post by: Redaktion on July 29, 2020, 14:50:37
Sony already has something similar to Nvidia's DLSS with the checkerboard renderer implemented in the PS4 console, but the results are not really on par because of the limited hardware. An improved version integrated with the PS5 could benefit from the more powerful AMD hardware, ensuring that 4K games at least run @60 fps properly.

After almost 10-years, NVIDIA seems to be the new Intel vs AMD.

AMD is finally crushing it on both ends now.

Let's just hope that AMD has a much better handle on its new drivers for future apps/games, gpus has much better temps and fan noise reduction.

This patent has nothign to do with reconstruction/up-scaling like DLSS. It's about using a camera to model or track an object.

"Almost as good as native resolution" ? Wrong! Dlss 2.0 is better then native 4k also adds free Anti aliasing besides the huge fps increase and resolution upgrade.

DLSS 2.0 still shows occasional motion vector artifacting, so no, it's not entirely better than native resolution.
