That would be great. I miss the taller keyboard and the comfort of the pre-chiclet keyboards. Lenovo should really make their smaller machines that are 14 inches or smaller 3:2 and the bigger ones like 15, 16 and 17 into 16:10s, for Thinkpads. For their consumer stuff, they can use whatever TV or movie aspect ratios they want.
As people below said, taller screens should be the default for work machines. Unless somehow the biggest user segment of Thinkpads is entertainment, which I strongly doubt.
Being a software developer, vertical screen real estate is king... I've never understood the obsession with 16:9... it turned computers into the most expensive video players in existence. Anything with a 16:10, 3:2 or 4:3 display immediately gets 1000% more consideration than 16:9 when I'm shopping. And since Lenovo has eliminated so much of what made thinkpads my go to choice in the past... they can use any help they can get. Bring on the 16:10 displays. 3:2 and 4:3 would be welcome as well. And hey... while your at it... do the same for external monitors.
Having used both, I vote for 3:2 aspect ratio for most devices that fall into 8-15" screen size.
16:10 is more suited for 17 inch+ gaming laptops that can take advantage of that extra "ultra-wide" experience when playing AAA Simulation/Driving/Shooter games, and still plenty tall enough for productivity work.
This seems like an obvious suggestion. I like the 3:2 for work.
The 16:9 standard has been around in laptops for 15+ years. Didn't bat an eyelid. 16:10 used to be the standard. Now, out of the blue 16:9 is "no longer positive". This journalism is style over substance. Make your minds up ppl.

It's not quite about the usage characteristics. It's more about finding the right screen to put in that model. 120px is practically insignificant change, as a consumer the difference in display ratios should be fairly insignificant. Fine if you want to type documents and if that is what you call work then what was so bad about 4:3? Fads ppl. Just another fad to make you feel inadequate and sell you more tech whether you need it or not.

Macbooks always kept the 16:10 ratio and people could not stop praising their screens for more than the past decade. Journalists were no exception to this fact.

Work machine as in for documents, coding, image manipulation, scientific computing, engineering like CAD and such. 4:3 would be great but we are all saying that this is a step in the right direction. 120px is an additional 11.11% more space and is by statistical and dimensional analysis disciplines, significant since it is within one order of magnitude of the principal quantity, which is unity here.
I call 16:9 a fad. It came literally by popularity of those cheap panels and it should not belong in this type of a work machine.

I switched to a Mac right when the entire PC market pivoted to 16:9. I used to use Thinkpads. For those who are ignorant of the complaint behind 16:9 screens, just check out various ThinkPad reedits, people have been complaining about 16:9 and hoping for 16:10 or 3:2 and some even 4:3 for many many years. There is a legitimate demand since 16:9 became the norm. 16:9 was a stupid TV-panel driven fad that does not belong with computers like Thinkpads.

Work machine - any machine where the duty is primarily work-related and not entertainment. Do you know how many people use Thinkpads for coding and typing because of the great keyboards? If you buy a Thinkpad because it is a fad, you are not the majority of Thinkpad users, who are usually corporate customers. Our IT department doesn't buy "fad", but being IT, they want taller screens too for themselves. We buy new machines every 4 years, if you think that's fad, you are bonkers.
