Title: Alleged Halo Infinite 120 Hz free-to-play multiplayer could be next nail in the coffin after the reveal fiasco

An Irish retailer listed 120 Hz gameplay and a free-to-play multiplayer component as two key features of the upcoming Halo Infinite on Xbox Series X. After a gameplay reveal that showcased sub-par graphics, the addition of a free-to-play element and a high frame rate option (which implies graphical cutbacks at 4K), could further stoke the fire.

No single GPU to run AAA games at 120hz? In which regard? I've got an RTX 2070 and am able to play plenty of AAA titles at 120fps at QHD. With a more powerful card it's easily possible to play even higher than that at QHD.

Now if we're talking UHD then of course it's hard to drive games above 60fps even with an RTX 2080ti when enabling options like raytracing.

But, I'm going to guess that since there is a PC version of the game, the mention of it supporting 120hz is more focused on saying the engine supports 120hz natively, rather than being added after the fact.

Plenty of us prefer high refresh over resolution, frankly it makes more of a difference in FPS titles.

So, I wouldn't just assume that they're alluding to the console version making sacrifices to hit 120hz, when a lot of TVs don't even support this natively.

Just give us a solid 100FPS (that will churn out a FULL playable
60FPS) and be done with it.

Anything over that is useless and the rest of that focus should go towards optimize game engines, drivers, and tomorrow's features.

It is supposed to run on Xbox One. Of course it won't have impressive graphics, because that basically is as far as they can go, anything above has to be very optional. So this is the place where MS strategy of no generations and no one left behind is killing their next gen. Because they can't make proper Series X , because it would melt XB1. So instead of Halo Infinite bring heir exclusive premium franchise to bring out what new system can do and showcase capabilities, it is like last gen game. Hopefully they can make up for it with gameplay, graphics aren't everything, bit this will definitely give bad first impression and turn easy win into uphill battle.

And of course they are pushing FPS, since it must run on XB1, SX should have no issue with high FPS, due to how powerful overkill for HI it is. As for multiplayer, if they do free to play only, they clearly have no idea who target audience is...hopefully paid version has multiplayer without free to play crap they always put into free to play titles.
