Title: Apple has a notchless next-gen iPhone prototype
Post by: Redaktion on January 29, 2021, 19:50:10
The leaker @MauriQHD has posted claims that Apple has finally produced an edge-to-edge iPhone display. Unfortunately, it is also apparently a prototype, and may not be intended for the upcoming 13 (or possibly 12s) series. In other rumors, the Cupertino giant might see fit to "invent" 1TB internal storage options in 2021.

Well, Apple is only 2 years late in the race : Asus and Xiaomi had at least one model each on the market in 2019.

Apple doesn't want to give up Face ID. Already a year ago, if not sooner, there were reports that Apple is working on a more compact version of the sensor package that will allow them to make the notch smaller. But there would still be a notch. Back then, it wasn't certain whether it would make it into the 12 series or not. Now we know that it didn't make it. Unless they can manage to fit the sensors under a display, we probably won't see a proper notch-less design from them for a while. What is the alternative? Give up and use just a camera?
