The base iMac M3 is US$1299 with 8 CPU cores/8 GPU cores, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage, 2 x TB4/USB4 ports - none of which can be upraded later.
Apple's base models are only for advertising an attention-grabbing price, but 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage aren't exactly sufficient nowadays (certainly not very future-proof at least) and upgrade options are where they make an insane amount of dough.
+$200 to bring the RAM to 16 GB
+$200 to bring the storage to 512 GB (+$400 for 1 TB)
(not counting the $200 difference between the 8 CPU/8 GPU and 8 CPU/10 GPU SoC options)
So $1700 for roughly the specs as Samsung's model.
