Title: HP Pavilion 14: A powerful Ice Lake multimedia laptop with an annoying drawback
Post by: Redaktion on January 22, 2020, 22:21:24
How can you ruin an Ice Lake and GeForce MX powered multimedia laptop? Well HP has managed it, and that is not the only fault we have with the Pavilion 14-ce3040ng either. All in all, its flaws mask what is an otherwise good 14-inch laptop.

I know it may sound like a drawback, but I'd buy it with that fan curve. It's better to have a more cautious (and loyder) fan curve, rather than one which to quiet, and cannot be changed to be more effective at cooling.

A loud fan is only good if it is effective.  However, from the article...

"In short, we cannot recommend the ce3040ng until HP sorts out its fan curve. Our review unit runs rather hot too, which is equally concerning."

It sounds like the cooling system itself is the issue.
