Title: Chuwi teases the AeroBook Pro ahead of its Indiegogo launch
Post by: Redaktion on March 04, 2020, 23:15:31
Chuwi has posted several specs for its upcoming AeroBook Pro PC. It is to be a 15.6-inch notebook with a 4K display rated to cover 100% of the sRGB color-space, and an ultra-thin "full-metal" case. It will become available as part of a new Indiegogo campaign in late March 2020.

Quote"full-featured" USB type C port

It's for this kind of "feature" being advertised that I would like reviewers to specifically mention "barrel power connector" in a laptop's I/O listing.

Their website says "for data and video" so I won't even count on USB PD charging being present. Side note, I've seen "USB PD" listed as a feature though all it meant was that power output FROM the laptop could go up to 9V or so, but still no ability to charge the laptop itself.

I would love to buy one of these if Chuwi would give me a credit for the dud Chewi Laptop air I bought a year ago and cannot update with
Windows 10 now. What a total ripoff.  No bios support either.

I have the original Aerobook which I received as a reward for backing the project on Indiegogo (with some additional perks).

So far, the product still works for me. Though you get what you pay for. There are cheaper products other there with similar out-of-date specs. (5 years old in this case. I swapped out my 2015 XPS15 for that which has a more powerful Intel Skylake than this Aerobook Pro.)
The price to performance isn't there if you're willing to go so far back, though you do get a much better looking chassis.

As for the Type-C port on my OG Aerobook. It works with a PD charger. I'm using the Anker PowerPort Atom PD2. The CPU for that model is low power, it's rated max at 24W (12V 2A). Have been using with that charger since the beginning with no issue.
