I stopped letting Firefox update itself about four years ago. Perhaps Sergey did, too. After all, one of his other articles invites readers to "hop into the time machine by installing an older build of Firefox". You know.
There are already sites where morons developers don't even support the relatively new FF110 - some controls only work in 113-114 versions...

The absurdity of the situation is that most web developers get paid for nothing and are so lazy that they should all be fired long ago.

Previously, everything usually worked in a browser 1-1.5 years ago, but now it's a moronic race for the latest api in browsers due to the fact that there are very few truly high-quality developers on the planet and their number, despite population growth, is decreasing in real. All the rest (mostly Indians) are so stupid that they cannot write anything if there are no "ready" cubes for this. The debilitation of the population is going at an accelerated pace, and the quality of the code is flying rapidly down.

Digital Armageddon is already inevitable.

"The debilitation of the population is going at an accelerated pace, and the quality of the code is flying rapidly down" - you're so right on that one. The humankind is all about quantity now, not about quality. Vast investments into education systems around the globe are needed to change this unfortunate state of things.

This will not happen for two key reasons:
1. Powerful kleptocracies in all countries without exception, in order to manipulate the opinion of the crowd, need the lowest possible level of outlook and systemic education / thinking (critical thinking / reliance on common sense and good systemic knowledge of the natural sciences and at least 3-4 languages at the same time, so that, for example, not to depend on translators, because they can also be manipulated if a person does not know another language at all). Because the higher the level of outlook, knowledge, experience, systemic education, well-established critical thinking in a significant (majority) share of the population, the more difficult it is for those in power and the higher the requirements for their own level to manipulate the opinion of the majority.

2. All the same, there are no resources on the planet to provide a high-quality (and extremely dangerous for those in power) education to a wide range of the population with such a size of the planet's population.

3. Even if such a miracle happened - the majority became - well-educated people - this would lead to increased requirements for the standard of living, and there are no resources on the planet for 6 billion+ to consume as a "golden billion", even with the obvious flourishing of all the "green" technologies.

But of course, point 1 - the key one - to the state (that is, a stationary bandit acting in favor of a certain layer of the powerful kleptocracy), well-educated people are simply dangerous.

Otherwise, social networks would not flourish and easy manipulation of public opinion on the whole spectrum of issues would not flourish. And such scams as "covid" would simply not be possible, even their attempts.

And of course there would be no billionaires. After all, the majority would not allow themselves to be so mercilessly exploited for nothing and would not allow obvious crime in the creation of any modern capital. The culprits would be punished. But all this is of course a utopia and pipe dreams.

In order for the level of education of the population to be able to significantly increase relative to the current one, the total population of the planet must be reduced by 8-10 times, plus key social reforms should be carried out, but this is all again a vicious circle - there is no educated mass of people, as an extreme element of pressure on the ruling kleptocratic stratum - no merciless struggle with them, there is no improvement of society. And the less educated societies and the lower the standard of living, the more prolific they are, no matter how absurd it may seem at first glance.

Humanity has swelled up in size by almost 3 times in 80 years, but the fundamental sciences are at a dead end, as is the quality of the organization of society. Now the super-rich have a new fixed idea - AI, which in reality is still centuries away, at best. And those who still have to survive somehow ... And there is a regression in the level of systemic education of the population, which is rapidly deteriorating with the growing complexity of science and knowledge of mankind.

The overall efficiency of civilization is falling and falling. But on the other hand, it looks at us with a ruthless eye - the universe, nature. They do not forgive anything and have no pity for mistakes. Humanity is driving itself into a noose with acceleration...
