Asus already shows on paper that a powerful configuration can also be packed into a small smartphone with the Zenfone 8. We will find out what it is capable of in the end in our review.

According to Asus and other reviews DC dimming is availiable only in 60Hz display mode. From the review I assume that you've tested display in 120 Hz mode, therefore DC dimming was not availiable. Can you put a try and measure PWM with DC dimming in 60 Hz mode? I think many people (myself included) would be very thankful for this.
I agree with Egor. I was playing with the phone myself at a store and found out that the DC dimming is fully working, however only in 60Hz mode. Then I compared it to some Xiaomi Mi11 (I think) and there the DC dimming was working also for 120Hz. I hope that Asus will add that possibility in some future update.
Battery life is just a disaster. Just like any other Snapdragon 888 device.
Battery life is not disaster at all here, its not head turning sure but for 4000mah, it works well here - lasts a full day for me but I dont have AOD turned on
It would be great if reviewer went into bit more details regarding display. ∆e doesn't look good at all. Also, only 99% sRGB coverage..
What's going on in that phone?
This review makes the battery life look awful. 7 hours WiFi test for Zenfone 8, versus 14 hours WiFi test for iPhone 13 Mini. Is it really that bad?
The brightness curve looks like sinusoid. How the PWM can be applied in that case?
