"Ultrathin gaming" probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think "Alienware". Dell is looking to change all that this year by launching the thinnest gaming laptop the company has ever made.

Some serious compromises here, still looks nice.
Less powerful but heavier than previous model?
Combining "Alienware" with "thin and light" always have much compromise.
The port selection is not great though :/

Pretty nice look, true, but at this wattage I'd probably choose Razer. I don't see a strong case for this model, unless reviews somehow surprise me.
soldered RAM, i'll pass

The X17 does not have soldered ram. unsure about the 15
The absense of ports on the sides has nothing to do with its thickness
Having only 3 USBs instead of 4 really hurt. Even if the side is taken up by the exhaust of the new 4 fans cooling design. There is really no reason why they couldn't add more ports at the back of the device with this much empty space.
Even though I don't really care much about eye tracking. It is quite interesting Alienware dropped Tobii completely instead of replacing it with software based solution such as Tobin Horizon that Lenovo Legion is currently using.
