Huawei's current issues in regard to the US Department of Commerce adding the Chinese technology company to its entity list under the Export Administration Regulations have been well documented. However, while many reports have focused on Huawei's smartphone and tablet business, there is a rumor that it could be the company's laptop division that becomes the first victim of the current business restrictions.

Who would buy a laptop business with no suppliers, no licenses, a tainted brand name, and no real consumer base? None of their products are even unique. It's MacBook clone #452... That REALLY helps with the stigma that huawei steals or copies intellectual property.

Well that's unfortunate. Whenever Chinese brainwashed by the Party accuse Lenovo of being "traitorous" for selling hardware at a higher price in China than in the US, I bring up the example of the Matebook X Pro, a variant retailing ~$1200 on Amazon US asking ~¥13000 on the official JD distribution channel.

Popo

I actually like Huawei laptops but will not buy one because of Huawei's link with the Chinese government and that Matebooks are basically Macbook clones with some simple variations.

Macbooks are an excellent design, large centred trackpads, good keyboard placement (not a good keyboard though!), 16:10 screen (Huawei went with 3:2!), quality screen.

If this were made by Dell or HP they'd sell a ton of them.
