Almost a year on from its release and the Dell XPS 15 9570 is still suffering from countless issues

Dell may have just fixed the device's DPC-related latency issues, but the popular 15.6-inch laptop is still plagued by other problems that the company has failed, or refuses, to fix.

I'd add the following to "little" problems to the list of outstanding issues:

- unusable 16:9 screen
- unusable keyboard.

Daqua

My cursor is jumping around madly, which often makes it only usable by keyboard and touch screen. Might be related to the newest Nvidia driver for my 1050ti since updating and bug coincided, and happens on both Ubuntu and windows and when all input drivers (mouse, touchpad, touch screen) are deinstalled/disabled.

Meh

Actually even the sound issue as of today has not been fixed on all devices. Thank you for following up on this laptop news as it was an expensive device which made the buyers extremely frustrated. Such a shame that people still watch fake good reviews on YouTube and buy this flawed device. More shame is for Dell still selling it knowing the customers will suffer

There are few more issues that are not mentioned. I'll point out only one and that is that external keyboard and mouse are basically stuttering and lagging very often when C-States are enabled in BIOS (which by default they are).

If you disable C-States you lose some of the power saving CPU states (less battery life) and also core frequencies behave differently. With C-States disabled you can't reach maximum turbo boost clock for one core. If you use application that is single threaded that means you're going to have worse performance because maximum clock is the frequency that's used when all cores are active.

Notebookcheck editors should seriously revise their top10 and their reviews on the 9570, considering it is still a sold product and many people still use this website to make informed purchases.

This laptop has proved more a nuisance than anything every single day I have owned it, expecting Dell support to improve on their trivial issues.

I'm running my XPS 15 under Ubuntu 18 with upgraded SSD (Samsung EVO 1TB) and memory (32GB) and really don't have any complaints.   I don't try to micromanage battery power, keep the NVidia drivers on, and generally shut down between usage.   Most of these complaints seem to be about the way that the XPS conserves power. IMHO it's an easy fix -- just disable power saving and bring along a power plug.

When this laptop is coupled to a TB-16 and driving and external monitor(s) it is plagued by a screen flickering issue. Apparently I am not allowed to post links to where I have raised this due to the forum software but there seem to be lots of people suffering an so far nobody at Dell is even looking at it. I dont know how to get their attention - I have interacted with their "support" function online and got nowhere.

Well. I think it's really useless with the hybrid gpu. I want to disable the Intel gpu and only run Nvidia to cad applications but that's not possible. So sad.

Killer wifi sucks I will buy a 9260 instead so I can get rid of the drops.

Backlit keyboard have two rows with bad light.

What's in a Name

With TB16/240w and two extra Dell monitors any keyboard shortcut that is not handled by a program makes the screen invert colours for a split second.

Radio USB (Microsoft sculpt) keyboard lag.

Computer (or keyboard) freezes about once a week for about 10 second.

Changed graphics hardware once under warranty.

Power button seems unresponsive about every third time.

Sleep and hibernation failed for a long time but might have been fixed. Don't know for sure since I have changed behaviour due to this.

To bright screen at lowest level.
Could be brighter at highest level.

Still suffering from fan going on and off.

Agreed. Quite disappointed with Dell. Was excited about the XPS 15, but no more.

They're making Apple-esque mistakes: stop craming hardware they don't understand inside a thin-and-light system.

It's like every laptop generation, they literally start over on known bugs & issues of their previous model.

Definitely concur and last time I buy Dell. It's just been a horrible nuisance from a broken ordering process to a broken first laptop to a mediocre replacement with quality issues and Dell's inability or unwillingness to invest into fixing issues.

Been following this chat ever since my  XPS 15  9570 died on April 1 (no it was not April Fools).  I had been having problems, but was attributing them to the current issues with Windows 10. Those problems are relevant, but totally unrelated.  Once it was confirmed that the new (purchased in Dec. and still under warranty) computer was completely dead, the hell began.  They offered me onsite replacement of the mother board.  Not the problem.  They then offered to fix the IOS(???)  board and ribbon.  Still no good.  Never once were the right parts delivered, nor did anyone connected with the attempted fix speak English as a first language.  Nor did they have any idea what the problem was.  Everyone read from a pre-written script that had nothing to do with the actual problem, and could not or would not deviate.  Finally, a replacement computer was offered.  Fine, but no one could compensate me for the hours spent reinstalling not just the backup stuff migrated from the backup drive, but the re-registration of dedicated software, rejiggering of passwords and add-ins, etc. etc.  I could say I will never buy Dell again, but none of the rest are better.  Would go to MAC/Apple, but my clients are PC-Based.  I'm afraid this is just the tip of the iceberg in the future of computer.

The only good thing about this laptop is the way it looks aside from that there are the following issues

Screen flashes on and off when it wakes up from sleep.
Audio problems with crackling
Screen randomly dims despite ambient adjustment being turned off
Fan is buggy and cuts in and out constantly

And Dell never offers anything in the way of fixes, just copy and paste the same "solutions" that never work. So disappointed.

Dell Owner

When the XPS 15 9570 launched I was very excited.  I got the max spec version, which was expensive but hey, YOLO.

I noticed immediately that system was glitchy, spontaneously unresponsive, and obviously not handling the thermal aspects of CPU & GPU.
And this was all happening while only editing Word documents.  The hardware was not overworked.

In the end the excitement of the release was basically a path over a cliff. Now I must deal with a very expensive, hot, and glitchy (unusable for minutes), laptop that was *supposed* to be the best.

I'm never buying a Dell again, or at least nothing beyond a disposable.
