If you are looking for a simple and relatively compact gaming notebook, then the Schenker XMG Neo 17 may be the laptop for you. The 17.3-inch laptop scores highly for its powerful hardware, its 144 Hz panel and its optomechanical keyboard. However, can the Neo 17 compete with other large gaming laptops on more than just specifications?

Just FYI, this same model from Eluktronics (Eluktronics MECH-17 G1R Slim & Light) is sold with a 62.32WHr battery that occupies the 2.5" drive bay, so the battery exists and can eliminate one of your complaints. :)

Thank you for this excellent review! As Matt H. mentioned, this model can be configured with a 62.32Whr battery, which is the default configuration at Eluktronics.

Please review a Sager NP8371 (ClevoPB71EF-G) laptop configured with an RTX 2070. I'm trying to decide between that one and the Tongfang GK7CP7S you just awarded an 87%. Thanks!

The performance is way lower than what i have. Do you actually do research on this model in case you have received a fluke or bad sample? If i was writing an article on a big named website, i'd at least mention the divergence of performance from the norm.

Hello and greetings from Argentina. First of all excellent review I love and very detailed. I currently acquired the eluktronics mech 17 which is basically the same team 1 week ago and I noticed an important difference when running cinebench. For example, when running in office mode the equipment remains at a TDP of 35w which maintains a frequency at 2400-2800mhz while running (Cinebench R15 = 932 and R20 = 2231). When activating the gaming mode with the turbo button the TDP increases between 65-80w throwing the following scores (Cinebench R15 = 1219 and R20 = 2811) without mentioning that in the bios it brought by default an undervolting -50. It may be that this difference has to do with the custom configuration that eluktronics makes with respect to schenker. It should be noted that the team buys it without RAM and storage. Since I had adata modules ddr4 32gb 2400mhz and 2 SSD m.2 so the team came out below US $ 1,500.

To make it less confusing, it would have been better served if you could just list the Clevo model and then list all the eqivilent OEMs model eg from Sager, Eluktronics, Schenker etc.

Hi Team,

will there be an update?
Actually XMG Neo 17 is orderable with Intel Core i7-9750H too.
Will this makes an huge difference?

Hi,
I've owned that laptop for 2 months now, and I would like to add that the keyboard is completely and objectively s***.
I don't really care as I use an external keyboard pretty much all the time, but it's definitely worth mentioning and I don't understand why I didn't see any review raising the issue I have with the keyboard. I don't think it's specifically my laptop that has a problem, as all the keys behave the same.
The keys stay pressed for too long after you release them. Which leads to double taps being registered only once. Expect a lot of typos on words with the same letter twice in a row. Also, games in which you have to spam the keyboard or be precise with it like touhou or stepmania are completely unplayable.
Otherwise, the laptop is great.
