Not to rain on your parade, but a Garmin Edge 520 is most definitely not a professional level navigation device. If there's a professionally surveyed reference point somewhere close to where you are, you'd be better off testing devices against that, rather than another consumer-level device. A professional level handheld GPS device would be something like a Trimble Geo 7X, fully loaded, but then you're talking USD 7000+.
