Without a big keynote, Apple today announced the long expected update of its MacBook Pro line. The 2018 MacBook Pro models are a refresh of the existing designs with new CPUs , GPUs, more RAM and bigger batteries.

Murhaf

It's ridiculous how long they take to upgrade there laptops,
and they didn't even bother using better GPUs (the 560 is roughly better than the 460) now they just adding X, what??
I think this thing is way too far from "Pro".

OneLoop

They do not take that long! Or at least not this time.
Apple uses processors with a TDP of 28W and Intel makes them available in the first half of each year. The 8th generation CPUs of the new MacBook Pros were launched in Q2 2018, e.g. see Intel's website for the Core i5-8259U. Many other manufacturers take the first U models available in Q3 2017 with a TDP of 15W which are less powerful.
