More than just a convertible! Above all else, the Acer Spin 5 is a 15-inch convertible. However excitement is aplenty, because Intel's latest Core i7-8550U and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 are what we have under the hood here. Whether this convertible laptop can function as a gaming notebook you shall learn in this extensive review.

I thoroughly Enjoyed your review, it was exactly what I was looking for since info on the SP515-51GN is scarce and are mostly from acer >:D, I like the fact that you opened the chassis to discuss the internals. I am very disappointed that the RAM is soldered, acer's website mentions no such limitation. My market has no 16GB Version and this is one of the few affordable 2 in ones with a decent GPU, tough decision I like to know I can upgrade the ram if I need too.

Thank you very much for your review.

Hi.
First of all great review. However I have one question about the ram that wasnt clear. Can it be extended or repleaced to a bigger one or if i buy it with 8 gb it will stay 8gb and no possibility for an upgrade?
Thanks

Katie

I love the review!!! You deep into the product :) Do you know PCmark overall score for this SKU?

The slow card reader and the non-replaceable ram is a deal-breaker when there is no 16GB model available.

Thank you very much, the analysis is very professional. It is important to mention that, sadly, it does not allow to expand the ram memory, the bios does not allow to incorporate Intel Optane even though it has the technology to do so.
I would like to find a custom bios with Optane enabled and be able to install an Optane 32Gb and 1T SSD.
