Quiet as a mouse They are rare things indeed: Multimedia laptops furnished with AMD APUs and a powerful dedicated Radeon core. The overall performance is convincing - that is if the price is reasonable.

Anyone knows of the R9 M280X is on a MXM slot? I am planning to buy one, but I'm not happy with what this article says about it's graphics performance and intend to somehow upgrade it to at least R9 M290X, R9 M295X if possible. I know about the MSI GX60-5CD, but that model is not available in Malaysia, MSI Malaysia refuses to bring it in, and apparently MSI has dropped all mention of the GX series from their website, suggesting that they're no longer making them. I do intend to play The Sims 4 on it among other games, mostly sims and strategy With a tinge of FPS, and the weak point is that it cannot handle a playable frame rate at ultra in 1920x1080 in The Sims 4.

nice and thorough review! :)
i just bought this laptop a few weeks ago. i heard that AMD APUs could use the benefit of higher bandwidth memory, and according to these articles:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Kaveri-FX-7600P-Notebook-Processor.117329.0.html
http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/processors/notebook-tablet/fx-apu
http://cpuboss.com/cpu/AMD-FX-7600P

the APU can support for up to 2133mhz of RAM.
with that information, could you please update the article, regarding the overall performance & gaming performance of this laptop using pc-15000 (1866 mhz) & using pc-17000 (2133 mhz). because i'm planning to upgrade my ram to 2x8gb pc-17000 if the performance boost is proven significant (and if the notebook supports it).

thanks in advance.  :D

Why not use latest driver? Notebookcheck always not using the newest graphics driver when their review AMD Notebook GPU.

Hi
I had this laptop for several months now and here is my experience:
Only after a couple of months you will notice the poor quality of keyboard. It become more stiff and resistant and you have to use more force which leads to a painful typing.
The keyboard layout is also a mess. No light for Num-lock key. Home, end, page up and page down very poorly laid out far from each other on the numeric pad. Fn keys for screen brightness and volume are also out of reach on the f5, f6, f11 and f12. You always find yourself searching for those keys even after several months of using. In my previous Acer Travelmate these were very nicely put on arrow keys and you could find them without looking.

The worst thing on this laptop is it's touch pad which doesn't have palm proof. Accidentally touching the pad are very annoying during typing which force you to disable touch pad every time you want to type something and enable it again which is a pain in neck. Again my previous Acer Travelmate from 10 years ago had this functionality from Synaptics. I think Acer wanted to cut the expenses and haven't bought this from Synaptics and made up it's own crap driver for touchpad.

Another thing is it's gigantic power adapter. You have to carry this brick with yourself every where.
