Alternative? Not really. The highlight of the Flex 14 is surely its 300 degree swivel screen alongside the related multimedia and presentation options. Lenovo now expands this product line with a weak AMD APU from the E-series. Why this concept does not work can be read here.

I built a station for my father using a E1-2100 APU. It runs Windows 8.1 on a SSD. Compared to my i7-3770k desktop, there is a difference in speed when loading a few things, but once you get into the browser, Word, Excel or anything else, it doesn't matter. The Kabini is powerful enough for 90% of users.

So this makes an EXCELLENT Ubuntu laptop, just like the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 with the N3520. With an SSD it boots in 10 seconds and in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS all hardware works with some minor labour and it works snappy with everything. Who wants windows anyway :)
