Microsoft is preparing Windows 11 optimizations designed to improve performance on PCs with 8GB of RAM, targeting high idle memory use. The updates will roll out gradually, with broader improvements expected by the end of 2026.

So... Undoing what everyone already said was a bad idea.

Welp, better late than never I guess.

Typical Microsoft finding ways to optimize windows 11 but only rolling it out to low end machines like the rest of us wouldn't like better memory usage or at least the option to have better memory usage.

This is a main reason why I still use W10 on a MiniPC. When W11 will work well on 8GB, I will reconsider using W11. That Windows works at all is more important than getting security updates.

Microsoft being years too late is better than never... Same for going back to allowing a small start menu etc.

This was years in the making. MS obviously was banking on progress bringing more capable systems to the market. And that means more RAM as well.
Well, at least all this AI rampocalypse has forced MS to give a flying squirrel about how much resources their OS uses.

It's Microslop we are talking about..  I don't believe it's going to be a real optimization, more like delayed/cached load of the bloat and only on 8gb ram computers. We'll see.
