Pay for what? All they have to do is release the server code, simple as that. cost 0. Or just disable the switch that requires internet for the non-multiplayer games.

Better yet would be if they don't include these stuff in the first place if it isn't necessary, they will then actually save money.

I see no reason if a person pays for a game, they should lose what they paid for. Do you also think that once a manufacturer stops selling your computer model, they can just disable your computer preventing it from booting?
