Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra users complain about massive camera issues when taking pictures of the moon

Years after Samsung was accused of faking moon pictures, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is once again having problems with the Earth's satellite. The flagship is rendering the moon in a pink color, which suggests an issue with the white balance in the One UI 8 camera app.

Yeah, buy a $2000 phone and shoot crappy jpg format and Samsung jpg's suck. Use the pro mode and shoot RAW dummies.

QuoteYears after Samsung was accused of faking moon pictures,

Lol? Like they were ever hiding it. They even have an official link for years at this point: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-galaxy-cameras-combine-super-resolution-technologies-with-ai-to-produce-high-quality-images-of-the-moon/

QuoteSince the Galaxy S10, Galaxy smartphone cameras have included Scene Optimiser. This camera function uses advanced AI to recognise objects.

Since the Galaxy S21 series, Scene Optimiser has had the capacity to recognise the moon as an object. This means that the detail enhancement engine, a key feature of Scene Optimiser, is applied to photos of the moon.

When you take a photo of the moon with your Galaxy device, the camera system uses deep learning-based AI, along with multi-frame processing, to enhance details.

So people were accusing them of something that they are open about? What's next, accusing Notebookcheck authors of writing articles on Notebookcheck? 🤥

Stop twisting the facts. Those support articles were published by Samsung as a response to the original moon picture controversy.

In February 2023. If that's twisting the facts then your definition of "years" requires some update, as we are in August 2025 now.

Edit: And people are still asking if the Moon pics are fake, do a custom search for past year, now I'll "twist the facts" but that's most recent than Samsung's article about the matter so... First search only, plenty more: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/mobile-apps-services/are-the-moon-pictures-from-the-samsung-fake/td-p/11268090

The article says "Years after Samsung was accused of faking moon pictures(...)".

Simple past tense.

And I said, as a reaction to "accused of faking it":

Even more simple than past tense. They never denied it, in fact they were always open on the forums/community about it, but I'm guessing it gets annoying to repeat the same over and over again so they pushed the article, yet people still ask if the images are fake. Simple, believe it or not. But if you want so much to e-win then here's your e-trophy, congrats: 🏆

There you go. They acknowledged it after they were accused of faking these pictures in community forums. That didn't happen proactively, so there's absolutely nothing wrong with this article.

It's difficult to proactively cover every idea in someone's head. If people start saying how Enrico Frahn is 100% an alien from Mars then you can't proactively react to that but only after those accusations and say that you are actually from Earth.

Then again, how is that whole situation relevant with the purple Moon article here I still have no idea because they are not faking purple Moon, clearly, so no idea what was the point of mentioning that AI-Moon situation before with the current bug.

But I'm twisting the facts that they didn't ever lie about those AI Moon pics, that's the only important matter (as you replied to that). Anyway, have a nice day 🍻

Samsung actively developed and released a camera app with heavy AI processing that caused the original controversy in the first place, so that's not a far-fetched idea that started in someone's head. They absolutely could've explained their AI processing and its negative implications before those accusations surfaced.

And the article doesn't claim that.

I would argue that going from total inability to see the Moon at 19.9x zoom - it was nothing but a bright spot - to PERFECTLY CLEAR moon image at 20.0x zoom was perfectly self-explanatory on its own, but I'm guessing some users really need everything explained in detail, probably the same people for whom warnings like "Do Not Iron Clothes While Wearing Them" exist.

So yes, Samsung mods and reps explained that like at least 50-60 times on the community forums, just to eventually, as you call it "after they were accused", put a whole article about the matter, yet people to this day struggle to find that same article and they still call Samsung out for faking those Moon images. If that's not hilarious on its own then there's no help, sorry.

Why in the world is this so difficult with you? I never said the article is claiming that; in fact my first/initial comment here was:

Quote from: Worgarthe on Yesterday at 09:57:16Lol? Like they were ever hiding it. They even have an official link for years at this point:
That was a remark, believe it or not, not against you Enrico, nor against Hannes, but against those people doing those accusations. I said that Samsung never lied about it, they did not ever say that those images are 100% real or without any AI enhancements, I said, read the quote right above - "They even have an official link for years at this point" - just for you to come and bam:

Quote from: Enrico Frahn on Yesterday at 18:19:11Stop twisting the facts.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I give up, really. Enjoy your day, again.
