Virtually all major US companies ceased official operations in Russia in H1 2022, making key day-to-day electronics such as laptops harder to get a hold of - and more expensive. Three years later, products from brands like Apple and HP are still purchasable in the heavily sanctioned country but Taiwan and China-based brands reign supreme.

Surprising. Guess people where right when they said the sanctions were doing very little in Russia.

The prices seem similar to what you would find in a non-sanctioned EU country.

Also, the "few deals, older components" and limited availability of mobile rtx 5000 along with strix halo is just something happening everywhere.

I think you could fool most people with replacing Russia with the UK, in this article and nobody would even notice.

Quotedoing very little

Well, property and food prices have gone up significantly. If you live off the $250 monthly minimum wage (which dozens of millions of Russians do), you won't even be able to rent an apartment in most cities.

Travelling got more complicated and more expensive - there are no direct flights to the EU, Japan, etc.

The sanctions do make a difference. With electronics, there's also the question of currency exchange rates which are really volatile.
