Asus is upping GPU performance, equipping the 2025 version of its 14-inch gamer, the ROG Zephyrus G14, with the new GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop. Its processor is the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in combination with 64 GB RAM and a 120 Hz, 2.8K OLED display. Update: Benchmarks Photoshop, Premiere Pro & DaVinci Resolve

QuoteIt's a pity that Asus doesn't offer a model with the 5090 Laptop, although this would be easily possible with its TGP of 110 watts. In our GPU analysis, we saw that the RTX 5090 Laptop would be almost 14% faster than the RTX 5080 Laptop with a TGP of 115 watts, for example.

Manually adding the 5090 Zephyrus G16 into your gaming charts reveals that in both 1080p and 1440p, the 5090 G16 has no real advantage in gaming. The only outliner (X plane) also happens to be one where the Ryzen cpu simply underperforms regardless of the gpu, and even there the G16 is just 14% ahead. There are also a few cases where the G14 is outright faster, up to 10%. The 4090 model likely sold very poorly due to the extreme upsell price.

Curious if a Double Sided M.2 will fit in this as an upgrade, I have read mixed reviews on previous models and not sure if the larger size case of the 5080 models would allow for this.

Could you help all customers of Adobe to select the proper laptop? Between Lightroom 14.0.1 and 14.2 they suddenly invalidate installs based on... AVX2 instruction set.  Could you please with every of your so involved sophisticated tests also mention if the processor supports AVX2?  Thanks in advance.

Otherwise the "algorithm" is:
1) purchase a laptop.
2) check if Lightroom installs.
3) if not return it, get a refund if you can.
4) go to (1) for another try.

Literally nobody mentions the AVX in the specifications. I even did not knew of its existence, until Lightroom refused to install itself on my Dell XEON workstation. They are horrible of course, but so is Adobe, we have to live with that.
