A new rumour from Chiphell mentions an AMD GPU with 32 GB of VRAM. Apparently, it is slated to launch sometime in H1, 2025 and will be made for enterprise applications more than gaming.

Honesty I would be much happier if they went for a 24GB (3GB dies), GDDR7 9080XT with 256 bit bus, that sat in between 5080 and 5090 in performance but for say $1K.

For the author, remember there is also the local AI community that runs local LLMs and would love the added VRAM.

It can be a 9070 XT with extra memory for what it's worth and still steal the thunder from NVIDIA's unfortunate paper launch.

It can't be Navi 44 because it's the lower end die meant for 9060 series. Navi 44 has a 128-bit memory bus so it can't have 32 GB's of memory even when it's clamshelled. It would be Navi 48 with a clamshell memory configuration.

I doubt they will change the memory controller to allow the use of GDDR7. They probably don't need more bandwidth for gaming or AI this gen.

If they have performance 10-15% lower than the 5080 as I assume 9070 XT 16GB will be, but with 32 GB, at some price point at or below $1k, then some people will buy that. Mostly for AI.
