Tech giant Google is restricting the range of functions of Google One, which is intended to ensure easy surfing with a high level of privacy protection, including protection in public WiFi networks, for example.

Google should fix it's One offering by taking a cue from Apple. If someone is paying that much, they ought to include services like YouTube Premium in it as well. Apple offers it's 'News' and 'Arcade' services as built in options when choosing plans.

Right. For me, disrespect of endconsumer data using Google search(!) or Youtube videos is the by far more relevant reason though why I do not subscribe to YouTube Premium. Google wants to earn twice from me: using my usage data and getting my payment. The former is also illegal so the latter will not happen.

Given that the headline feature of YouTube Premium is that it gets you off the hook from having to constantly watch personalised ads marketed to you, based on your personalised viewing data), arguably you're not paying twice, as your data is no longer being used for advertising.

There's an option in your Google Account that turns off Ad personalization. Enable that.

Now your data is not being used for advertising.
