Orange Pi Neo finally has its price revealed. The Linux gaming handheld with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U will cost $499, while the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U configuration will go for $599. We also got to know the tentative release timeline, which is Q2 2024.

Does the better configuration with the 8840U APU come with more RAM and/or storage? The faster NPU is pointless, especially for a gaming device.

Not necessarily, Microsoft is looking to integrate NPUs for ai upscaling, essentially the same way NVIDIA does it with DLSS and Intel does for XESS on their own GPUs, but with any device with an NPU

You are being short sighted. Imagine games that can generate their own unique side quests and world building, smarter favorability systems, followers that don't agro everything, more challenging hard modes that aren't just more hp and do more damage but systems that can better react to your actions and learn in realtime

This runs Linux like SteamDeck. So it all depends if the game engine, developer, or AMD to implements these features
