Intel's Magdeburg cutting edge fab in Germany will be the first to produce 1.5 nm chips

CEO Pat Gelsinger revealed that the Magdeburg fab that is currently under construction in Germany will be the company's first fab to produce sub-18A chips for Intel as well as IFS customers. This fab could come online in 2026.

This will never happen, these are only dreams of Europe. The USA is now pupating and transferring everything advanced to itself. Even if Intel tries to do something similar, the future administration of 2025 will quickly correct it and return it to the stall. TSMC's days are also numbered, as they are not trying in every possible way to slow down the construction of advanced factories in the US after the deal with the US authorities. The owners of TSMC and the government of Taiwan are well aware that as soon as TSMC loses its leading position in semiconductor production, Taiwan will lose its protection.

So you are saying they CEO of intel lies? What for? Diversification of locations of big corporations is rather common. I am surprised TSMC and Intel were holding to such limited amount of locations for so long.

While I'd agree that even a 2 nm fab for Team Blue is still a 'pipe dream' the idea that they are going to somehow 'leap frog' over TSMC anytime soon AND on top of that in Germany no less (rather than in the US) is comical at best.

Sure, while just about everyone (even Intel in a very limited way) uses TSMC and when China overruns the island and takes over quite a few companies and their products will be at risk.

Frankly I'd liken this to more empty 'marketing hype' from the CEO in attempts to remain reverent in a world where they are being beaten by the competition in almost every market.

This is just deliberate stuffing in the press (corruption) to increase the value of Intel shares, which has fallen several times over a quarter of a century in the real purchasing power of the dollar.

If the "gentlemen" cannot win according to the rules they have established, they simply change the rules and carefully pretend that nothing has changed... =)
