For years, Qualcomm has tried to break into the Intel/AMD duopoly of the Windows laptop world - without much success. Attempting to finally break the mold, Qualcomm's newest CPU platform, the Nuvia based Snapdragon X Elite with Oryon cores, will go head to head with Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen 8000.

Can't wait until this works with Linux, where it can be better optimized, and tech writers stop catering to the lowest common denominator.

So they're basically doing a paper launch on a product which won't be available until another 8+ months? Meanwhile Apple is holding their M3 conference in just a few days. And when they announce something, it's literally available in devices sold the next day.

Yeah, good luck with that one Qcomm.

If there aren't native apps compiled for Linux it will be useless. Adobe will never release Photoshop or Lightroom for Linux on ARM and you would be forced to use emulation for many apps. Microsoft has never achieved good results for Windows on ARM, so hardware is one thing, software is another.

It's great that there is more competition, particularly to the inefficient crap intel has been putting out for years, but not available until mid 2024? what is the point of even announcing it when it is at least 8 months away? Thats almost a full CPU market life cycle

WTF!!! 🤯
I hope Qualcomm is not joking. 🙏
If these statistics translate into the real world, Qualcomm smashes both Intel and AMD in efficiency battle. My next laptop is definitely going to be Qualcomm based

And benchmarks are obviously done on native ARM applications? The first company to introduce x86-to-arm hardware translation along with ARM CPU, will win, be it NVidia, AMD or anyone else.

qualcomm wont go anywhere with this paper launch. there's no comparison to phoenix in cpu department.at 30w 780m is twice as fast as intel xe(in gaming) so how is this gpu is double performance of former and at the same time 80% better than later?! 7940HS is worst phoenix available based on efficiency so how is it compared to 7840U ? at Q1 next year there will be strix zen5 processors with most renovation in zen  architecture yet, to boost efficiency(and performance too). 16wgp(4up compared  to 780m) 880m rdna3.5 and 8533mhz lpddr5x support. i think strix will be direct competitor to this snapdragon not phoenix. and of course we have strix halo at the end of next year which will thrash everything everyone would have...

"Yeah we can easily beat M2, but we will show it only in 8+ months"

Probably just some statement to keep board satisfied, as Qualcomm wasn't able to provide a proper competition for a while in every market, be it mobile or desktop, despite costly acquisitions, and it frustrates both buyers and investors
