Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, a new 4 nm chipset that will debut next week in the Redmi Note 13 Pro. Surprisingly, it appears that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is the weakest Snapdragon 7 series chipset yet since Qualcomm's naming re-brand.

The spec sheet shows that the chip actually supports 200 MP still camera. The 48 MP limit is shown only for 30 FPS with zero shutter lag.

Qualcomm has even worse naming schemes than Intel i series and Ultra branding smh... first we needed to look at the gen, now we need to look for a tiny s next to the 7!? All these monopolies preying on tech-illiterate consumers to steal their money...

It's just a disgrace - even in such a series in the fall of 2023, there will be no basic support for recording 4k@60fps 30 bits from 4:2:2 in H265+ with a 100Mbit/s stream.

This should already be a requirement, like the USB-C connector, which even Apple was forced to use.

Likewise, all smartphones over $150 must be able to write at 4k@60fps with a minimum of 80Mbit/s stream in H265.

It's a shame when Snap 8 series 2015 already wrote 4k@30fps - almost 9 years have passed...
